Scumburbia: Mega Sized Mall Issue captures the messy, emotional, and comically absurd realities of adolescent life. Through interconnected narratives, we follow two pairs of best friends – Claire and Zoey and Spike and Spunk – as they navigate the suburbs at very different stages of their lives, offering unique perspectives to one another. Social pressure, identity, and the bittersweet nostalgia of growing up are at the forefront, set against the iconography of middle-class youth culture.

Sam Grinberg is a cartoonist based in Los Angeles. He self-publishes his comic series Scumburbia, inspired by his youth growing up in the woodsy suburbs of New Jersey. He has worked with Oni Press, The Simpsons, The Academy Museum, Adult Swim, and more.
